Palo Alto is a suburb of Santa Clara County located between San Francisco and San Jose. Located south of SF and close to Redwood City, Mountain View, Fremont, Union City and San Mateo, there is a lot going on in this part of California.

Getting around Palo Alto
Flying into Palo Alto is through San Francisco International Airport (SFO), 25 miles north or San Jose International Airport (SJC), 20 miles south. Palo Alto Municipal Airport serves private aircraft only.
Caltrain run rail services into the city from San Francisco and San Jose through Palo Alto Station in downtown Palo Alto and California Avenue. Buses run to Palo Alto Station operated by Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA).
Palo Alto has two major freeways, Highway 101 and Interstate 280 and the main north-south route, El Camino Real (SR 82). State Route 84 runs across the bay just north of the city.

Take the family out for a full day of fun and excitement at the Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo. This great museum is hands-on allowing kids get to really get the most out of this fun educational experience. The Junior Museum & Zoo is a place where children and adults alike come to explore, discover, create and play. Through hands-on science exhibits and a diverse community of live animals, this museum seeks to engage people’s curiosity for science and nature. The Zoo houses than 50 species of animals–about 200 specimens in all–many of which are brought into classrooms as part of the Junior Museum & Zoo’s science outreach program with local schools. Some of the animals include bobcats, raccoons, jungle bats, hedgehogs, ferrets, snakes, fresh and salt water fish and invertebrates, a red tail hawk and other birds.
Get in touch with nature at the Gamble Garden Center. This beautiful, non-profit horticultural center spans over 2.5 acres and it’s highlights include; a historic home, a carriage house, a tea house, and both formal and demonstrating gardens. The gardens are open for the public to see and explore all year long- and the best part? Visiting is completely free!
Take a trip to the Stanford University Campus! The campus encompasses more then 8,000 acres and is home to some of the most brilliant minds in the country. To really get an idea of what this great school is all about- you can embark on a tour of the grounds. There are two types of tours available to guests- walking and riding. One-hour student-led walking and golf cart tours cover the highlights, including the Main Quad and the Stanford Museum. This is a rarefied, beautiful environment that is great to be part of, even if for just a little while. Tours are available every day year round, except during winter break and certain holidays — if you would like to take this tour, it is best call ahead to verify dates.
Get a feel for the charming city culture at the Palo Alto Art Center. This beautiful center features around twelve new exhibits and showcases new artist’s work each year- creating a truly unique experience with each visit. The center makes an active effort to really get both locals and visitors to the city, to participate and get involved in art. The center does this by ‘taking the art to the street’ with contests, events, and great shows!
Visit Google Headquarters, also fondly known as Googleplex. Everyone already knows how awesome it is to work at Google- so when visiting, it is a lot of fun to see what the company culture at google is actually like.
