Midland, Texas is a small city midway between Dallas and Fort Worth and El Paso. Originally settled as a stop off point for the railroad, the city has a population of around 135,000 people. It’s a small but busy town with a lot going on.

Midland is probably best known for being the birthplace of former president’s George H Bush, George W Bush and Barbara Bush. It is also known for Midland College and for regularly being voted one of the best cities in American to live for twelve years running.

Getting around Midland

Midland has its own airport, Midland International Air and Space Port (MAF) that’s 10 miles outside of the city. The next closest airport that handles national and international flights is Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).

There is local rail operated by Midland-Odessa Transit Management, otherwise known as EZ Rider but there is no intercity rail link.

Local buses are also run by EZ Rider while Greyhound handle intercity links.

Road is the preferred method of travel as you would expect with Midland being on I-20 from Fort Worth and El Paso and local highways and commuter links handling the rest.
