Anchorage, Alaska is an amazing place. It’s one of the few frontiers left in our country and offers something for everyone. Anchorage plays host to a wide variety of activities, including adventure, culture, relaxation, fishing and snow sports. It’s a year-round vacation spot that offers outstanding vacation opportunities.
As you would imagine, winter brings snow to Anchorage. What you probably didn’t know, is that is also brings 16-17 hours of daylight per day too. While it can certainly get cold, the average daily temperature is a balmy 20 degrees!
There are a huge range of winter activities in Alaska, from skiing, dog mushing, watching the Northern Lights, sledding, snowmobiling and walking. Alaska is huge, so there is always something going on. Most people come here to experience the last true wilderness, we would encourage you to visit too.
Once you’re exhausted, there are a wide range of more sedate activities to help rebuild your energy for the next experience. Anchorage has bars, restaurants, museums and galleries, as well as sightseeing tours and other excursions.
The boundless countryside around Alaska provides a wealth of summer activities for the active. You can try everything from hiking, mountain biking, fishing, bear watching, whale watching, glacier cruises, sightseeing, rafting, ATV riding and a huge array of other pastimes.
There are also all the benefits you would normally associate with city life in Anchorage too. We love the outdoors here, but there is much more to Alaska than that!

As a medium-sized city, Anchorage is excellent culture, history and nightlife. Whether you’re recovering from the days excursions or looking for a change of scenery, we have something for everyone here.
With a range of local cultural events, music festivals or performing arts, we may be at the end of the world, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy ourselves! There really is something here for everyone.
If you love seafood, you’re in the perfect place. You can catch your own dinner in the bay and have it prepared and served for you, or let someone else do the work and enjoy a range of salmon, halibut or king crab freshly caught and prepared for your plate.
Alaska also has more breweries per head than just about anywhere else in the country. We are ranked fifth in the US for breweries and are only too happy to share the fruits of our labor. Enjoy a wide range of microbreweries, brewpubs, tours and a range of beers you could only dream of!
