Westlake is a narrow strip of land on the western short of Lake Union. It serves as a transport corridor for Seattle and commuters love it. Full of single family homes, apartments and houseboats, there is a rich diversity here that’s hard to match outside of downtown.
Westlake has always been involved in transport, from supporting the logging industry to transporting coal, things have always moved through here. The modern neighborhood is busy, sometimes crowded but always interesting. The mix of people and places ensures there is always something new to see. There aren’t many attractions here, or bars or restaurants, but other parts of the city are only a short drive away.
Local highlights include Lake Union, South Lake Union Park, Swedish Cultural Center. Residents generally travel to other areas of Seattle for bars, shopping and restaurants.
