Bryan is a city in central Texas located next to College Station. It’s the country seat of Brazos County and located within Brazos Valley. It and College Station are referred to as the Bryan–College Station metropolitan area.

Bryan was initially settled by Moses Austin when he was granted the land by Spain. He was soon joined by William Joel Bryan, who names the town after his family name. By 1866, Bryan got a post office and began its road to growth. The arrival of the Houston and Texas Central Railroad in 1867 cemented our future and encourage more people to move here.

Ten years later, the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas opened in neighboring College Station. The Carnegie Library of Bryan opened in 1902 thanks to a donation from Andrew Carnegie, which began a period of growth for the city that is still going. We haven’t had to copy with explosive growth like many cities. Our growth has been slow and steady. That means we have been able to keep that small town feel while effectively managing space and resources. It’s a great position to be in!

Much of our economy is provided by Texas A&M and education but there are plenty of other employers and businesses in Bryan. We share many resources with College Station and enjoy many of the benefits of a research and education-based business environment.

Local Bryan highlights include Texas A&M University, Bonfire Memorial, George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, the Brazos Valley African American Museum, Messina Hof Winery and Resort and lots of local amenities.
